Mahindra Racing's Marcel Schrotter(#77) and (Danny Webb (#99) qualify 22nd and 23rd on the grid respectively for the first race of 2011 in Qatar this Sunday.
Mahindra 2wheelers made its official entry into the 2011 125cc world championships earlier this year fielding two riders namely Danny Web and Marcel Schrotter and thus becoming the first Indian manufacturer to enter the championships.
The bikes specially made from Mahindra's Italy based engineering facility made good progress through out the pre-season testing. The free practice sessions of Qatar did go on smooth without any hick-ups for the new bike and finally the boys made a time on the qualifying session to take the 22nd and 23rd spot on the starting grid for tomorrow's race.As mentioned in Mahindra Racing's social network page
Marcel Schrotter (2'10.602) 22nd position: "It wasn' what we expected today. I was pushing but I couldn' seem to get the time from the bike. That Danny and me were so close today which shows we are both trying hard. We'll now try some things in the warm-up and make a plan for the race".
Danny Webb (2'10.608) 22nd position: "I was losing the front end quite a bit and disappointed not to be faster. The lap time is actually not too far off where we should be but the position is quite far back as the bikes are all so close here. At least we have another 20mins session to work on the bike today".
